my personal opinion for your reference:
Although it will be grammatically correct to change "their range" to other words that parallel with "survive" and "found", the meaning of the sentence will become less logical
"and" is manily to express 1) a list with separate, independent, and equally important items 2)sequence of events
While in this question, you'd better use coma +ing modifier to express the consequential relationship between "their range extending...." and "survive through extremes of climate"
in other words, "their range extending from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, from sea-level rain forests to the edges of Andean snowfields and ice fields at altitudes of 15,000 feet" shows how hummingbirds "survie through extremes of climate"
B is definitely the best choice
BTW, you should only use "and" to connect the last item of a list
A, B, and C
A,B,C,D, and E
