标题: 平行的省略问题
As a result of the continuing decline in the birth rate, fewer people will enter the labor force in the 1980’s than did in the 1960’s and 1970’s, a twenty-year period during which people born after the war swelled the ranks of workers.
(主语people相同且无定语成分则省之，但did不能省)

平行省略的唯一标准难道不是是否引起歧义吗
那么上面这个句子的did为什么不能省呢省略了过后就是两个时间状语的比较的问题啊。。我觉得省略了过后也是正确的呢

比较结构中省略的是相同成分。有没有歧义是看这个被省略的相同部分，若省略后有歧义，那就不能省。

这题中 fewer people will enter the labor force in the 1980’s than did in the 1960’s and 1970’s,
than两边红色动词时态不同，不能省。

请问一下如何理解这里的歧义呢
我不觉得有歧义呀如果是因为时态的原因的话
有这种句子呀：
...than ever before
...than expected
这种不明显时态不一致吗前后

回到你提的句子：As a result of the continuing decline in the birth rate, fewer people will enter the labor force in the 1980’s than did in the 1960’s and 1970’s, a twenty-year period during which people born after the war swelled the ranks of workers.
如果省略did，那有划线部分有可能变成fewer people will enter the labor force in the 1980’s than （did/will,两个都有可能） in the 1960’s and 1970’s，使得你无法推测在1960年和1970年间发生的动作究竟在过去还是在将来。

另外，你举得这个例句来自PREP语法笔记吧，似乎没有对应的真题。

我们还是以真题为主吧，这样更有针对性

这个than last不就是省略了么我就觉得这两题好矛盾

很好，这题OG16也有。

我的看法是这题中的last只会说明是过去发生的事，因此than右边省略“was”也不会有歧义。

SC是在5个选项里选出那个“最好”的，而不是“最完美”的

我在想是不是因为这里的price并没有发生实际的动作啊也就是说因为这里是be expected to而不是它主动去发出什么动作所以did/ were这些在这里就不用重复了。。。
