C选项Indicating that...were是什么用法，有人说是倒装，正常语序是：Its eastward orientation and overall plan, but also the artifacts were indicating that a ruined structure found at Aqaba, Jordan, was probably a church。如果不是倒装，indicating that是做状语修饰后面主谓吗？

1、A选项中的 as indicated结构错误，因为该结构中句子不完整。as表示原因或伴随时，应该连接完整句子。

2、A选项中的绝对语法错误是不平行： in its eastward orientation and by its overall plan。

谢谢医生! A选项as well as artifacts也不平行吧? C选项were是不是也有主谓不一致问题? 这里的indicating是动名词还是分词, 怎么区别?

你观察非常仔细啊，我都没注意到！C选项中indicating作主语是单数，所以were确实有主谓不一致问题，这也是C选项的绝对错误！

分词除了用在谓语结构中，单独使用时可以有两种性质：
一、名词性（动名词），可以直接充当句子的核心成分，如主语。
OG16-SC110： Being heavily committed to a course of action, especially one that has worked well in the past,（红色的都是主语） is likely to make an executive miss signs of incipient trouble or misinterpret them when they do appear.
二、修饰性（形容词、副词等，为了便于记忆，我习惯统称modifier）。
  一般情况，直接修饰紧邻名词：
  短modifier：rising inventory。
  长modifier OG16-SC48：Digging in sediments in northern China, scientists have gathered evidence suggesting that（修饰evidence） complex life-forms emerged much earlier than  previously thought.

  两种特殊情况：
  a、有逗号，修饰前面主句的主语或整句话。
  OG16-SC40：Retail sales rose 0.8 of 1 percent in August, intensifying expectations（修饰前面整句话） that personal spending in the July–September quarter would more than double the 1.4 percent growth rate in personal spending for the previous quarter.

  b、分词在句首，只能修饰主句主语。（常见考点）
  OG16-SC48：Digging in sediments in northern China,(修饰scientists） scientists have gathered evidence suggesting that complex life-forms emerged much earlier than  previously thought.

谢谢医生兄, 非常详尽! 再请教一个问题: In late 1997, the chambers inside the pyramid of the Pharaoh Menkaure at Giza were closed to visitors for cleaning and repair because moisture exhaled by tourists had raised the humidity within them to such levels that salt from the stone was crystallizing and fungus was growing on the walls., 加粗这两个句子fungus前面是不是省略了that? 否则and不能直接连接两个完整主谓结构吧?

不客气！

我认为fungus前不用补出that。因为这句话是such that结构，that的作用类似于连词，连接右面的整个句子
而stone was crystallizing and fungus was growing，从其平行的时态来看，也应该是一个句子。

通常that作引导词连接宾语从句时，为了表明正确的平行关系，会写出两个that。
例如： The discovery indicates that。。。 and that。。。

是的，通常that引导的宾语从句平行需要重复that。Such that结构后面如果再重复that确实很奇怪，但是and前没有逗号，连接两个完整主谓结构也很少见。您之前见过这样的情况吗？或许这是such that的特例。

你观察很仔细！
确实and连接句子时，前面一般都加逗号。
不过逗号不是绝对错误，除了逗号+Ving的结构。
