不是上升的生活标准也不是平衡贸易，它们各自确定了一个国家在国际市场的竞争力，而是两者同时要满足，因为由于上升的贸易赤字能提高生活标准和因为能通过降低一个国家的生活标准来平衡贸易。
也就是说生活标准和平衡贸易一个都不能少。因为贸易赤字会造成生活标准提高的假象（由于贸易不平衡了），降低一个国家的生活标准也会造成平衡贸易的假象。因此国际市场的竞争力如何，比如A选项就可看出，因为在贸易平衡的情况下，生活标准的提高就能看出一个国家的竞争力高。（因为这里的生活标准的提高不是牺牲平衡贸易得来的）
