Springfield Fire Commissioner: the vast majority of false alarms are prank calls made anonymously from fire alarm boxes on street corners. Since virtually everyone has access to a private telephone, these alarm boxes have outlived their usefulness. Therefore, we propose to remove the boxes. Removing the boxes will reduce the number of prank calls without hampering people’s ability to report a fire.

我觉得选D要比选C好；TMD，接到火警肯定就出动了，哪还考虑the nature and size of a fire；而且我觉得普通人对于nature and size有专业的判断吗~

本题c明显是正确答案阿。

d 应该是无关选项。

D也不能说无关呀，就是因为fire alarm boxes制造了太多的false alarms，所以reduce了消防队的反应能力，而去除这些boxes也就改进了消防队的反应能力，是have the announced effect的。

我现在想想，为什么C好，因为C把private telephone说进去了；题目说了那么多telephone作为替代，在答案里不提提好像不妥。

have the announced effect 是要求Removing the boxes will reduce the number of prank calls without hampering people’s ability to report a fire.

所以，可以认为是无关的。D没有说是否reduce the number of prank calls ，也没说，是否hampering people’s ability to report a fire.

这里说的prank calls就是指的通过fire alarm boxes传递的，boxes都removed了，自然也就reduce the number of prank calls了

这样推理似乎附加了某些东西。总之，你自己思考思考，应该可作为无关选项。

D没有说支持是否reduce the number of prank calls ，也没支持是否hampering people’s ability to report a fire.

而是reduce the number of prank calls 的结果或效果。

文章的结论Therefore, we propose to remove the boxes. Removing the boxes will reduce the number of prank calls without hampering people’s ability to report a fire.要support它，最好的结论是直接支持，也就是答案和结论方向一致。

最近做了一些gwd题，有些感触。你不能说D不对，如果这道题里面没有C，D可以做为加入新信息的他因支持。但是因为C是正面支持，所以C更好。有时在CR里面也需要考虑最好的答案而不是正确的答案。所以就像题目问的Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports 。

另，有关和无关是相对的。最好的选项往往就是最像无关的那个选项。判断是否无关一定要先读懂句一，然后看有是否直接相关的选项。

GWG我一点还没做过，但是，此题我觉得D是与是否支持与削弱结论无关的，如果非说与结论相关，那么，D是原文结论的结果。即reduce the number of prank calls的结果是D选项的内容。

该题目让我们支持的结论是，减少恶作剧电话，而又不影响人们的报告火警的能力。

结论是要Removing the boxes 。

D：Responding to false alarm significantly reduces the fire department’s capacity for responding to fires，不足以可以Removing the boxes ，试想下，如果没其他办法了，即使alarm 大大减低了消防部门处理火警的能力，还是会采用这种alarm。而C，就给出了，使用电话比alarm box好，不就有理由令大众驱除这个无用的alarm box么？

期望的效果是:Removing the boxes will reduce the number of prank calls without hampering people’s ability to report a fire.

A强调电话报警可以traceble-- 而Box报警无效是因为anonymous.是不是A更好?

说说我看选项的过程吧：

A。觉得拿不准，先hold一下

B。无关

C。看到C了，我就把A给排出了

D。无关

E。无关

我觉得A可以说是题目内容的背景补充，因为题目中已经说明用private phone可以降低prank calls的次数。

那为什么是C呢？

大家看结论：

C正好强调了这一点，当然是support拉。
