我想请教大家，首句是什么意思？

作者提及mountainside slides of mud or snow有什么用意呢？

是不是，mountainside slides of mud or snow 也可以promote the survival of aspen trees?

只是作用不及fire 明显啊？

野火，较之于雪崩和泥石流更常见，。。。

前面的even more than...作定语吧。
