问题可能有点傻啊。

我纠结的地方在于，这里已经是even though 的句型，那么when引导的从句不会让句子结构不完整吗？
我觉得Even though interest rates rose last year, they were not nearly as high as interest rates in the early 1980s是一块儿的，再加个when的状语从句感觉不对。

"When the economy tumbled into a recession and markets were depressed" modifies the preceding noun "the early 1980s" - provide the additional information about "the early 1980s". It is appositive (同位语）instead of adverbial clause. Some examples of appositive -

首先说一下，when是修饰1980s的，你就把when从句当做一个形容词，这种情况下句子没有必要完整(它的功能就是形容词）

这道题的主要问题是考查句子是否复杂，次要问题要查比较对象，所以不要纠结when从句
a：they与1980s比较，比较对象错误；
b：对
c:at the time与when重复，前面的句子太复杂，不如b简单。
d：during the time in which应该改成during which；此外没有过去完成时态的标志，句子过于复杂。
e：使用了倒装，过于复杂。

还有就是没有必要记住什么“宾语从句”啊，“同位语从句”等等，关键看谁修饰谁。
