“According to your oppinion, what is a good manager?” If you ask ten people this question, you might get ten answers. The criteria for evaluation of managers has long been complex and controversial. Some think a good manager is a highly competent one who can give employees many directions and also monitors employes’ work result closely. Others, however, hold the oppsite idea. As far as I am concerned, the best managers generally trust their employees to work on their own without close monitoring. Both employees and managers work more efficiently without managers’ close monitoring, and some seemingly side effects can be compensated by other issue.
In the first place, employees who are trusted by their managers commited more to the company’s success, therefore, work more efficiently. If an empolyee are given enough work space on their own task, the employee will feel trusted, feel more competent. Besides that, the employee will take more initiatives and be more enthusiastic. As a result, the employee can work more efficiently. On the other hand, if a manager checks his subordinates work closely, the employee may feel untrusted. They may become inactive and incompetent, which will really affect the efficiency of the employees.
Besides employees work more efficiently, managers can spare more time and engergy to concentrate on essential management work. A manager usually have many subordinates, if a manager try to monitor each employees’ work closely, it will definitely take a lot of time. At the same time, the effects are not satisfied since a manager can’t technically know well about every employee’s specific area. Furthuremore, there are many responsibilites of a manager such as strategy planning, coordination, coaching, etc.
Some might argue that result and quality of employees work can’t be assured without managers’ close monitoring. However, I would say a clear task assignment and responsibility division, and quality assurance mechanic can help to solve this problem. At the same time, managers should provide timely support instead of close monitoring to all his subordinates.
To sum up, considering above reasons as a synthesis, we can safely reach the conlusion that the best managers are those who trust their employees on their own without close monitoring.
就我现在准备的情况来说,开头少写点,就可以腾出时间写中间段了,只要再多补一句话,就可以上400字了呀
