别纠结于正确答案为啥正确，应该想错误的选项犯了啥GMAT认为不能容忍的错误。不过就你这个问题，我觉得that指的就是个方向，east to west。作者: lululuna 时间: 2015-10-19 00:54
1）首先，代词错误在GMAT里面是一个需要靠后考虑的错误，刷题的时候经常发现有的句子里的代词错误，但到别的题目里却没问题；
令，给楼主附一道these代词直接指代也是正确选项的题目

这个从BCDE里面两个词都只有保留了 其中之一可以看出来，对词的增减要敏感，察觉是否有语义变化

分析这个句子原句，存在句意的转折“but”
first： begin travelling东西向（经度）
but then: veer off 向高纬度（维度）
所以可以判断，转折语义合理, hurricane发出的两个动词 begin travel或者travel 和 veer off需要平行；
