偶认为，逗号后的成分，即phenomenon that accelerated .......在句中作主句表语的同位语，其解释作用。而accelerate 在这里是不及物动词，意思是increase or grow(大英百科全书），其主语是phenomenon。整个意思是，或许战后最重要的趋势是整个美国城市的去中心化，这种现象，在巨多的公路建设项目使得更多的郊区成长时随之也增长了。
