Like A's, B's language is chatty, arch, and conversational--given to complex syntactic flights as well as to prosaic free-verse strolls.

given to "惯于, 习惯于" 在此句结构中的功能和作用 :

given to 分词短语作定语,修饰主语"language"。

v2.0
given to 做状语，解释说明谓语"is chatty, arch, and conversational"。

请确认，以上两个版本，哪个理解对?

given is preposition, meaning " in view of".
it feels more reasonable if the phrase is "given the ..."

or, there might be other explanations...

on the basis of the placement of the phrase in the clause ,i prefer the first explaination
or it may be placed at the beginning or the end of the clause

功能上讲是作为修饰，其实是主语补足语结构

我的观点是修饰B's language，如果换个语序更好。
Given to complex syntactic flights as well as to prosaic free-verse strolls， B's language， like A's, is chatty, arch, and conversational

由于前面有破折号，我倾向于第二种解释，given to 做壮语，但是觉得是解释主句：Like Auden,......,and conversational的。

请牛牛指教

个人倾向于given作状语修饰主句，对象是主句主语B's language。
