标题: that of在比较的时候应不应该有的问题
刷的og16，当比较中是11月的销售额啊，这种的，很清楚是应该有that of 做指代的，这个很清楚。但两个句子放一起就懵了。。。

另一题og16 111

答案是B，完整句子是According to recent studies comparing the nutritional value of meat from wild animals and meat from domesticated animals, wild animals have less total fat than livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat thought to be good for cardiac health. 这里就说比较的是animals和livestocks，不用that of，因为如果用that of是指代fat，不是animals和fat比较，所以错。

问题是：这两个句子，结构差不多，都是某个东西have sth，怎么比较的时候就是一个比较宾语area，一个比较主语animals了呢？分开看都明白，放一起，怎么区分呢？
考试时如果遇到这种题，have sth，有比较，怎么判断是比较主语还是比较宾语？

这个问题很有意思，不过解释起来也很简单，因为两句话用了不同的比较手法。第一句用的是comparable，这个形容词是用来修饰临近的area的，因此选项中如果不加that of那么比较的东西也就变成了area和英国。

第二句话用了less。用中文的语法试着解释一下吧。原句的意思：wild animals比livestock有更少的脂肪。在这里“比”的意思就是通过than表达出来的。因此，如果than后面加了个that of，那比较的自然变成了脂肪和动物。

第二句话其实是运用了比较的省略，更详细的关于这方面的内容我建议你看一看曼哈顿SC关于比较的章节

这道题Ron认为是C选项正确。。。
关于曼哈顿中代词这部分我记得that of的指代后面是必须有定语修饰以表示两者的不同
【这是我自己当时总结的笔记】. 用it/they来指代的时候是指与前面出现过的名词一样的东西；
而that/those则是不同的东西，必须在后面通过修饰来表示如何不同
EG: The money spent by her parents is more than IT was expected to be
The money spent by her parents is more than THAT spent by her children.
【第二句中父母花的钱和孩子花的钱，这两种钱是不一样的所有用that，并用spent by her children来修饰限定】

所以也就解释了第一道题为什么要有that of
然而到第二题就解释不通了。。。

I have more pens than You. 这句话一看就知道比较的是I和YOU两个主语。第二题也是同理。

那请问这句话对不对：

1. I have more pens than those of you.
2. I have more pens compare to those of you.

根据语义第二题C项还是两个fat在比较啊。这里肯定有什么语法纰漏，还不知道。
但我不同意看到答案倒退选项的解释。

多谢解释。

根据这句话，第二句并没有加其他marker.而且请看楼主第一题和正确选项一样的。所以没问题。

第二题C还是错外aminals和fat比较。我想明白了。
