本题答案选E，，which 是不是只能紧邻要修饰的单词后面，那本题不是要修饰letter吗，此处用which是不是不太合理啊；还有解释中The information about the period when Dickinson’s letters were

GMAT 承认 that 和 which 可以跳跃必要的介词短语，指代前方核心名词（你别跳得太多就行......一般只跳过紧邻的），所以这里根据”题意“ which指代 letter 是没有任何问题的。（*这里友善的提醒一下，当“comma+which”，和结果状语从句“comma+ving”同时出现时也要十分留意“题意”是什么）

给你一段RON的英文解释，"which" can refer to "X+preposition+Y" rather than just Y, it has ALWAYS been the case that X was singular and Y was plural, and the verb had a form that matched X and didn't matched Y。 所以楼主你要按照逻辑语意去判定这个which 指代谁。
A 动名词太多，不佳。并且后面有个outnumbering, comma+v-ing这个结构作为 主句从属部分，一定要能回答跟主句相关的一些问题，这里的意思是Letters导致了outnumeber这件事发生，显然逻辑不合适。如果作伴随状语，这句话的重点就是在wite over a period begging... and ending上，然而原来是想要把重点放在Outnumber上。
