标题: 求助！comma+v-ing形式
OG的一道题Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows and how babies acquire language.

关于D选项OG的解释是（D）The final descriptor in present tense, now drawing conclusions ... does not fit the opening clause, which is in present-perfect tense (have amassed a wealth ...) and seems to modify adulthood.

看到这个解释我非常疑惑，也就是如comma+v-ing可以就近修饰紧接的名词吗？为什么答案会说后面分句“now drawing...”会修饰adulthood？
之前看过很多论坛的帖子以及查看曼哈顿，好像都没有说这个解释，好像一般都是做伴随或表示结果，即使修饰好像也是修饰主句的主语。请问comma+v-ing形式可以像题目解释说的那样修饰其最近的名词吗？理论上感觉好像是不能的，但是我没有这方面的例子研究。

因为答案前面说了comma + Ving does not fit the opening clause
所以万不得已只能modify adulthood
然而这个万不得已是错的
