what many observers thought was 的主语是 what 所以和 was 连用，整体修饰 economy

我的理解是：many observers thought是一个插入语，what was an economy made overproductive by advances in technology是一个完整的主语从句。不知道对不对？

中文意思倒是明白，不过，感觉总是奇奇怪怪的。但别的选项错误更明显。
