答案是B。我想不出来这句话什么意思，惭愧。比什么更古老？“the city known to Homer’s heroes”荷马的英雄所知道的？由于荷马的英雄而让世人所知道的？

怎么解释这个known to啊？

我想the city known to Homer’s heroes就是指Homer’s heroes所知道的the city（这里应该就是Troy），但可能这些Homer’s heroes也不知道他们当时的Troy下还有更古老的civilization 。

下面是以前网友贴得内容，供参考：

大意：这个德国的考古学家S为了找到这个P的城, 把troy给切开了吧(垂直往下挖), 结果就发现了一个比荷马的d小说的主人公所知道(或者是这些人所提到的)的一个城(就是troy了)还要古老1千年的文明.
(或者说是比荷马小说了提到的城还要古老一千年的一个文明.)
在discovery里面曾经有过, 考古学家在troy遗址上着垂直的挖掘, 一共发现了七个城. 一个摞一个的, 有点沉积岩的感觉. 应该是曾经有很多文明在那个地方建过城池。
