Because a count of women employed outside the home at any given time will be expressed by a single number,the use of the plural noun numbers in choices A, B, and C is illogical.
我觉得the numbers of women 表示的是女性的数量，正好和后面的35％对应
而the number of women是大量女性，是泛指，说大量女性外出工作上升到35％， 这个好像有点别扭啊？
请指教：）

the number of表达就是。。。的数量啊，不是大量。。。的
