在20世纪，世界上出现了许多国家。这样的结果导致了，most countries in the worlds have less population ( than is in ) the state of Massachusetts.
A、than is in B、than 其他的选项被我排除了，因为考虑到B有歧义，我就选了A，尽管A不平行。

这个我认为是B 请高手指正！

我也认为是B，B在逻辑上没有歧义。

most countries in the worlds have less population than the state of Massachusetts (does)

A相当于：

most countries in the worlds have less population than (most countries) is in the state of Massachusetts(does)

“is” intrusive不说，意思也是荒谬的。

我觉得应该是B. than state of Massachusetts (has). 应该是省略了has. country和state比较, 很清晰.

从相对比较而言，B确实比A好，B应该是省略了than后面的does。A确实很怪，但也不能说B就一定没有歧义，如大家常举的一个例子，Ricehas higher quality protein ( than ) wheat.从逻辑上说没有歧义，wheat的does应该省，但是从形式上来说是有歧义的，所以应该用than does。我想问一下，用 than thatin可以吗？我印象中是可以的，虽然不平行。
A中我能否理解为than is (population) in the state of Massachusetts？虽然是有点ridiculous。
