OG 88 vs. OG 166 so that/so as to - ChaseDream

这个帖子以前发过, 可是其中的解释不能说服我. 顶了一下没人理. 我想是贴子太长了看的累, 所以再重起一个, 请斑主见谅.

136. Although schistosomiasis is not often fatal, it is so debilitating that it has become an economic drain on many developing countries.

88题OG中对C的解释：the present perfect verb have constituted (in C) is NOT correct that suggests that the statue’s features once constituted an artificial face but no longer do so. C中的现在完成时表示该动作到现在为止已经完成了，不再延续，因而是错误的。
136题中对A的解释：是合乎习语的。为什么schistosomiasis 在A中用现在完成时表达它是一种经济实惠的排水物质，就可以用现在完成时，而不产生如88题中C的错误呢？

so that/so as to出了看逻辑主语一致和表语结构外还有其他区别吗?

MM观察的很细致. 我觉得两道题都是客观事实, 用现在完成时都不好. 那么为什么在OG136中用完成时就是正确的呢? 我觉得还有一点. 就是答案是比出来的. 如果没有别的答案对, 就选最好的.

虽然自己也经常回一些帖子告诉别人"答案是比出来的", 但有时候就是不死心啊. ..

也就是说,如果so that/so as to都可以用,优先用so as to 吗?(因为同时符合逻辑主语)

我想是因为 so as to更加简洁，当然是选项中没有其他错误的情况下（一般不可能发生

不过对so as to已经有了一些新的看法，这里用的是so adj as to表结果， so that 可表结果(that从句中不加情态动词），还可以表目的（从句中家情态动词）

除了答案是比较除了的以外,还有一条同样重要的原则是:尊重原意.

好像突然想明白了,也不知对不对.CONSTITUTE 是短暂的动作,而BECOME是长期的动作,所以短暂的动作用现完就是已经完成不再继续,而长期的动作就可以表示一直持续到现在.好像又是从动词本身来说,从表达的意思来说.希望指教!!

因为逻辑主语一致，136中用so as to 语法上也可以，Although schistosomiasis is not often fatal, it is so debilitating as to become an economic drain on many developing countries. 但是与原句Although schistosomiasis is not often fatal, it is so debilitating that it has become an economic drain on many developing countries.比较似乎前者表示一种观念，至于现实中怎么样不知道，而后一种表达表示现实中对经济已经造成影响了。

回头看88题，画像成为“人工面目”是一种对画像的看法，完成时态使人感觉这种看法是已经发生的事实，从而产生意思上的改变。
