A rival B for sth, 这是一个固定用法么？还是要从其他角度来考虑选项呢？

rival: （in 金山词霸）

v.tr.（及物动词）
To attempt to equal or surpass.
与…竞争：试图匹敌或越过
To be the equal of; match:
与…相匹敌；比得上：

Ships can't rival planes for speed.
船的速度比不上飞机。

再说，for 好像有一个含义表示在。。。方面，不过没查到，but anyway,应该解答了楼主的疑问。
