Introduction: The MFin program emphasizes quantitative methods to provide a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations of finance. The program is taught by world-class Smith faculty. In addition to rigorous academics, from career workshops, to one-on-one finance department advising, to experiential learning projects, and opportunities to get involved in the Center for Financial Policy, students will have a wide variety of venues to put themselves in front of potential employers.
Experiential Learning Project (ELP): Smith’s Experiential Learning Projects aims at offering students the opportunity to have real-world experience outside the classroom. During past, we have risk management consulting projects for Citi Group, Federal Housing Administration led by professor Cliff Rossi; Energy Finance project with World Bank, etc.

Global Equity Fund (GEF): The University of Maryland’s Global Equity Fund is managed by 19 students in the school’s part-time MBA and Master of Finance programs. The limited-enrollment fund gives students the chance to research companies and manage and invest money from the school’s endowment fund.

Location: Classes are held at our Washington, D.C. campus in the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center, and in College Park, which are both easily accessed from all points. The Ronald Reagan Building is located within walking distance of the White House, U.S. Department of Treasury headquarters, and other important national landmarks.
