也可推出B的than后省略的不是句子，而是一个名词，即the proportion。

原本我也选a的,但是细想一下

it 的指代似乎有问题,指的是 a greater proportion这一整个连中心词带修饰,带回原句,就出现了问题

所以似乎犯了<美国东西部地震>那题og的毛病,在上面这个例子中,construction industry’s economic health 代前代后都似乎没有问题,所以a似乎不对了

做题时我也选了A, 后来看讨论发现B 更有道理。A 中  a greater propotion than it was in any previous elections 中的"was" 没有前面的动词作比较。因为前面只有一个动词是"accounted for", 不可能用was 来代替

可不可以这么理解：1992年，more than half the spending的这个propotion 比  any previous elections的propotion都大，那么was是就是正确的。在这里我觉得不能把was根 accounted for平行，was对应的应该是propotion而不是costs.

而且，根据ets出题的习惯，像这种than结构的题，一般是要在than后面加什么东西的，比如than they do in any previous eletion, than those of xxx in any previous elections。

不知道我这么理解对不对？请指教
