Mfin jobs are traditionally low, especially for students applying to IBs or PE. As the MFin is specially tailored for finance jobs – analyst and/or associate programs; it does not leave graduates many career options outside finance.
The career switch from trading into IB or PE is a challenging one, as there are few transferrable skills i.e. deal-making, transaction experience, pitching, and law documentation which does not really happen in trading.
My advice, if the financial services firm has an advisory business, transfer internally then do an MBA and it will be an easier transition into IB or PE, especially in this tough job market. |
