仔细想想那filigree是一万前某一天被spawned，然后斗换星移，一直长了一万年不烦，到今天还在长（注意是living organism，而且 that is）。这么一个持续并进行着的过程，用一般现在时(extends)或过去时(extended)表达是不通的，至少也应该说：and (a giant fungus) has been extending for more than 30 arces吧。extending正好可表示持续状态。且不说，A is B and does C 是如何不平行和awkward的，如：

I am a student and read books every day. (awkward)
