把belie翻译成“掩饰”害我做错很多道填空!

看一个中文加英文的句子: 她脸上的微笑belie了她考G的痛苦
如果把belie翻译成掩饰，上面这个句子的意思是她其实考G真的很痛苦,只是她微笑着让人看不出来。但我在做填空题是，发现这只是我一厢情愿的理解，ETS明显不是这么理解的。下面是ETS的理解：“她脸上的微笑证明了她考G很痛苦其实是假的”!!
言下之意就是，她考G并不痛苦，从她脸上的微笑就能证明。
M-W对belie的解释是:
1 a : to give a false impression of  b : to present an appearance not in agreement with
2 a : to show (something) to be false or wrong  b : to run counter to  : CONTRADICT
3 : DISGUISE
从做题我感觉ETS喜欢取第二个意思，就是"表明.....是假的".

上面这题答案选C，如果把belie翻译成掩饰，明显逻辑不通。因为句子的意思变为"虽然XX火山以前很具爆发性，但它现在还是很具爆发性，只是被它长期的休眠掩饰罢了"这是毫无逻辑的话。但如果belie翻译成"表明.....是假的".就很有逻辑了。类似的题在现有的题库里还有几道，我全列出来给大家评评。

嗯嗯，很多时候把belie理解成“出卖”比较行之有效～
但是的确有一个问题啊，就是红包里面好多词都像belie是有相反意思的，这个在背词的时候怎么办嘞>.>有的词条Webster解释真是太长了T^T
