Congratulations. This indeed is very inspirating. I am only 31 and I already feel very disadvantaged competing with those 25 years old dudes and gals.

All due respect

The reasons for rejections may lie in why you want an MBA after a Ph.D

what happend in these 10 years, and why it led you to this point for an MBA

since with your superior package, which includes 10+ years work experience, a U.S. Ph.D, and a 740 GMAT

it should be frankly easy to get admitted in top 10

probably you can share more and we can find out the problem together

Congratulations! It must have been a brave move from you current job to the application of business school. I share similar background with you but I am still in graduate school. Hope you enjoy your school life

So which school will you go?  Given the anticipated big lay-offs in financial sector, do you think it is still good to take an accelerated MBA program?

有点好奇,楼主为什么不申请EMBA?

据我经验,美国BSchool还是Prefer更年轻一点的Applicant。欧洲BSchool一年制的Program则更青睐年长一点的Applicant。

Probably 楼主aims for career switching, then FT makes more sense. Cornell's AMBA is like EMBA.  It is only one year and without internship opportunity

Cited from One Columbia J-termer's B-school Odyessy:

Fourth, recruiting wise, let me categorically state that for
management consulting jobs, internship is not a requirement by any
means. For instance, top management consulting firms recruit more
students from INSEAD (over 70% are career switchers) than any other
B-school and INSEAD does not have any internship. For industry related
jobs
, there is no need of internship either. For financial services
related jobs, internship does play an important role especially for
career switchers. But I do know many J-term folks who successfully
transitioned to IB jobs as career switchers. Obviously, they had to do
more le work.

Cornell AMBA = Part-time + Career Service
100% Job placement for AMBA & half the cost are very attractive.

来更正一下,INSEAD 一月入学的是可以做internship的。以下是他家的Brochure:

January Intake (Early January to late December)

Both intakes are organised into five periods of eight weeks each. Each period ends with exams and is followed by a short break. Both intakes are identical academically, although the January intake includes an eight-week summer break, giving you the option of taking a short internship.

A team of Cornell AMBA students came to our company for a marketing project for a week.  I talked to the professor leading the team and a couple of students.  I think it is a good fit to your profile. However, having a PhD is an asset, not a burden.  You probably want to think hard how to use it profitably. The pasture is always greener on the other side.  But the winner will be the one who knows his/her strengths.

BTW, there is one student from Cornell AMBA program who has a Ph.D. degree and worked in Korea (Samsung) before.  You may want to talk to him for his input.  I can look for his business card if I can still find it.  Otherwise, ask the admission office for his contact info.

Thanks!
I will go to "Destination Johnson" event in Cornell next week.  I will talk with current students before I make final decision.

My impression is that AMBA has a smaller student body (than the full-time program) but the AMBA students seem to have closer bond between them.  Most students in AMBA are older folks but I met with a girl who is just 24 years old.  The Indian girl finished her engineering master degree at Cornell and then went straightly for the AMBA program.
