请问为什么必须加an era呢？我的想法如下：from 1973 to 1993是时间修饰，mayor of LA 是从属结构，which 修饰跳过时间，确定为 LA。

during which 中如果 which 修饰 LA的话句意很奇怪，during LA 是什么意思，during指”在某个时间段中“吧。
还有就是根据A（原句），后面的分句就是来形容 1973-1993 这个时间段的。ABC都是同位语，an era 做 from 1973 to 1993 的同位语； DE中 which要么指代 1993，要么指代LA，因为作为名词性从句，which 不能指代一个介词短语，只能指代一个名词，但这样句意就很奇怪了。作者: 天天练哦 时间: 2023-2-17 14:34

an era when the city had transformed-如果去掉an era句子就变成了：“Tom Bradley ....... from 1973 to 1993, when the city had transformed from a collection of suburban neighborhoods to the second-largest city in the United States.”，我记得Ron的视频有讲过when是一个非常尴尬的词，它有可能会让后面的东西变成一个条件，这个句子现在的样子就有了歧义--【当】城市发生转变的时候，TB是市长 ，那言下之意就有可能是城市没转变的话他就不是了。句意变的模糊不清。
