芝加哥金融数学，面试完三小时发offer

如题。中午十一点电话面试，下午三点来的offer.想问问大家觉得这个项目跟cornell的Financial Engineer相比哪个更好找实习/工作？

the program was used to be not so good. then they reconstructed the program to be smaller and partnering up with local companies. if you are interested in working in quant in Chicago area, it is not a bad choice. there are a lot of prop trading firms there.

Thank you very much! I did know that they reconstruct the program to be a five quarter one. Yet I heard their replacement stats are still bad this year. I don't mind Chicago or NYC. But I am pretty sure I want internship and job in either US or HongKong. I prefer to be a research analyst in the buy side.

What do you think?

if you are doing latter, i dont think either program fits your needs.
i am not so familiar with the job placement of Cornell program.
personally, i view UChicago better than Cornell in term of overall reputation.
but if you want an internship, the duration of the program may matter here. i recommend you to have a longer than 1 year program if you dont have any prior relevant internhips. I feel that you may have better chance to get an intenrship due to hte location of UChicago. Cornell is middle of nowhere; hard to network.

they are both one and a half year program. The third semester of Cornell's program is organized in its NYC campus. The replacement stats can be easily find on its website, they say it's their pride.

I also think Chicago has a better reputation in terms of academics.

I actually prefer qualitative analysis, since I don't have much programming experience. But I don't mind doing quant research.

if Cornell has great job placements, then go for Cornell. that is all it matters. academics is not utmost important. HR wont know. your supervisors do not care either as long as you can get the job done.

Cornell definitely has better placement stats than UChicago especially when it comes to risk management positions. However, some may go for UChicago for its overall reputation. After all, it is a financial math program housed in the department of math, so i guess it involves less programming and practical skills.

First time heard of interviews from UChicago. Congrats!
