有关 finance master 在美国的将来？

I got two offers, one from Brandeis University, major in International Finance; another from Bentley College, major in Accounting. I don't know which one I should choose.

Although my own interest is in Finance, it's hard to find a job even an intern in finance industry. I'm wondering if I choose Finance, can I also take CPA test based upon what I am going to learn from class and what I am going to self-study? Since these two schools are in MA, USA, I do mean to take CPA in MA. The reason I consider CPA is I hope I can easily switch to Accounting if I'm not lucky to find a job in finance industry after 2 years study.

By the way, who can tell me which school is better than which one? Some said Brandeis is better than Bentley, some said the other way.

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

你可以问问brandies和bentley老师他们的学生毕业后的就业情况

。我听说brandies的那个MAIF program的就业指导工作基本等同虚设，学生找工作全靠自己，在现在的经济形式下，国际学生还是回国的居多，不过你可以考虑读完后再接着申请finance ph.d

至于说学校的好坏，brandies学校综合派名高，对你接着申请ph.d有利；bentley是不是就单一个商学院？但据说在boston地区的口碑还不错，你要找工作的话也够用了

And do you know whether I can prepare CPA in MA even as a student in Finance? Or you think PHD is a better way for me to stay in USA?

No,I don't think so. To prepare for CPA you must fullfil some requirements, and different state has different requirement. For example, in MA, you must have a 150 hours in accounting study and about 700 hours of work as an accountant.

If you choose to study at Bently, you can fullfil the study requirement. But in Brandeis because you are not accounting major, so you can't take CPA exam.

And if you want to stay in US, of course PHD is better than a master in accounting. Although it is very easier for a student of accounting major to find a job, as for a non-us citizen, you don't have H visa or legal working status, so you will be rejected by most companies. You know, H visa is very difficult to get now. And the company can easily get an accountan from job market, they don't need to hire a foreigner.

PhD is easier,but it can't guarantee you to find a job. But you can try. Good luck.

I see your point, esther906! Thank you! I think I will choose MAIF in Brandeis. I don't want to sacrifice my dream to reality. If I can't find a job in US after 2 years study in MAIF, I might consider to go back China to be a teacher in universities.

By the way, are you in MA?

Yes, I will try PHD first before I go back. But do you think 33 years old to apply for PHD will be too old in US? Thanks!

As I said before, my friend at Brandis (F-1 student) got a decent job offer after graduation.
