Since the past four years, we can see that wharton has received fewer applicants than it did before. People usually said, "Wharton, Standford and Harvard", but now we only hear, "Standford and Harvard". Even though Wharton says it picks up better applicants, we still doubt whether the status of the famous business school is decreasing. The main reason is the financial crisis. As we know, after the horrible finanical cirisis in 2008, many finanical companies lost their business, thus making it harder for graduates to find suitable work.

From the statistics of applicants to different schools, we can see that many top business schools get increased number of applicants, but Wharton isn't among them. However, Wharton says that the quality of applicants is much important than the quantity, considering that its applicants' GMAT score is 725 out of 800. Now people are focusing on the global network of schools. On the other hand, business schools also want applicants who have experience in diversified fields.

In order to improve its students' leadership and teamwork abilities, Wharton introduce a group class into its schedule, even though the strategy may depress some applicants. Wharton has been losing its applicants during recent year. It is partly because Wharton is famous for training financial elits for Wallstreets. After financial crisis, Wharton lost its path to such careers and people start to transfer their interest to Technology from Finance.
2'08 While the number of appicants for Wharton declines, other business school experience increase in their applicant number. Wharton explains that although appicants number declines, quality of enrolled students remains at a record high. However, some consultants hold different view. Now Wharton directs its courses to new career paths and hope to change situation.
1'46 Wharton attracts students by its excellent reputations, but failed to offer a entrepreneurial atmosphere pursued by many appicants. Moreover, staffs in Wharton change so frequent that it is hard for school to funtion better.
Director of Wharton's MBA admission decided to resign her job. Although no official comments have been made, but this resign is very likely to happen. Consultants claim that Wharton has loss its compititive advantages in recent years due to financial crisis and competition froms other business schools.
1'17 Applicants number declines, but Wharton claims that they are better targeting candidates now. Chief directors change frequently in Wharton.
