Scandals are useful because they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.

The author claimsthat the scandals are useful because they focus our attention on problems. Ithink scandals do have some benefits on our society but it also do bad to us.We should understand it correctly and there may be some other alternative waysto finish the same job.

To begin with, Iadmit that scandals are really powerful sometimes. Just as we see in the Watergateand Ernest scandals, scandals work in an effective way to solve our socialproblems. It finds out the facts hidden from the public sight by some conspiratorsand the revelation of scandals always stun everyone, then the public will focustheir attention on this issue and the morality and laws will be engaged. Thatis how it works and it has done many good things for us.

However, we can notbelieve in the scandals all the time because not all scandals are useful one.Some scandals reveal the inside information of politics and the illegal tradebetween the government department and the corporations, but some other scandalsare focused on the private life of stars and celebrities. The latter is aimedat attracting the people and getting much more profits. They not only harmpeople's privacy, but also satisfy people's curiosity, credence and malicious speculation.These things are dark side of human soul and the media should not stimulatethem. There are even some scandals twisting the fact and setting mist whichblocks people from the facts public deserve to know. People's cognition aboutthe society are contorted, things will just become worse, not better.

In my opinion, thescandals are not the only mean we can get the benefits it brings to us; thereare some other ways we can do it. More effective and lawful procedure and moreresponsible media are both useful, so we do not have to regard scandals as ouronly weapon. When a society relies on this weapon too much, this society ismorbid and exposed to too much danger. Scandals are double-edge sword and wehave to monitor it, control its dissemination then we may gain more from it andavoid its disadvantages as much as possible.

To sum up, I doubtthat scandals are beneficial all the time and we should put eyes on it. Ifscandals are out of control, the facts may never be seen again and the order ofsociety will be disturbed. What we have to do is to take control of it and makeit serve us better.
