不用for的话原句变成cost of running nuclear plants is about the same as other types of power plants，比较对象变成cost of runnng nuclear和 cost of other plants，核工厂的运营成本与其它工厂的成本（可能是收购成本）对比。当用for时，句子变成the cost for other plants，歧义消除。

A中as前面是it costs ....是一个句子，as后面是other types...是一个名词，不平行
B中as前面是cost，后面是（cost）for，cost是省略的，所以前面后面都是名词，也就平行了
C中前十it cost，句子，后面是（cost）for是名词，所以不平行
D和C一样
E前面是cost，后面是types虽然同是名词，但是明显就不可用平行结构。
这样对前半部分的分析就可以判断对错了，只是，cost为什么要省略而用for，我还是比较迷惑的，但是选项没有给of神马的，也没有干扰了~~~

A中as前面是it costs ....是一个句子，as后面是other types...是一个名词，不平行
B中as前面是cost，后面是（cost）for，cost是省略的，所以前面后面都是名词，也就平行了
C中前十it cost，句子，后面是（cost）for是名词，所以不平行
D和C一样
E前面是cost，后面是types虽然同是名词，但是明显就不可用平行结构。
这样对前半部分的分析就可以判断对错了，只是，cost为什么要省略而用for，我还是比较迷惑的，但是选项没有给of神马的，也没有干扰了~~~

其实A 中的比较是没有问题的。
it costs about the same to run nuclear plants as other types of power plants 这句话中“it” 是 “to run nuclear plants” 的 placeholder；改写一下就是：To run nuclear plants costs about the same as other types of power plants。
根据比较句相同VERB可以省略的原则，这句话后半句省略了to run.
完整写法是：To run nuclear plants costs about the same as( to run) other types of power plants。
而且OG中对D选项的解释也验证了这个说法，OG： The preposition "for" is redundant in comparing the two objects of "run"....所以OG认为这个结构是省略“to run”而去比较“to run” 后面的宾语.....

正确选项是在比较 the cost of running plant A 和 the cost for plant B= the cost of running plant B
所以省略了for就变成了 cost 跟 plant的比较；如果使用that of plant B（买工厂B的花费）那就改变了意思，the cost for plant B（run plant B 的花费）
如果必须要完全一致的话，那应该是 the cost of running nuclear plants is about the same as that of running other types of power plants......`

——虽然前面zhima427的回复可以帮到大家明晰选项，但是并没有戳到本质

首先，五个选项可以分为两组
（1）ACD，开头结构都是it costs，其比较对象是to run different plants
（2）BE，开头是the costs of running，其比较对象是costs

我来把A、B选项的第一句话补充完整，大家就可以更好的看到区别了
A While it costs about thesame to run nuclear plants as other types of power plants,
——> to run nuclear plants costs about the same as (to run) other types of power plants

B While the cost of runningnuclear plants is about the same as for other types of power plants,
——> the cost of running n-plants is about the same as (the running costs) for other types ofpower plants

如果从语义来看，我们会发现，这道题想要比较的是cost本身。因为原句想要表达的是：
虽然运营成本基本一样，但是由于投建n-plant的固定成本高，因此n-plant发电总成本高。
因此答案只能集中在B和E中间选。
由于后一句已经省略了cost，那么介词结构for不能省略。

我们再回过头来看OG答案中提到for的问题的地方，应该就会觉得很清晰了：

D The preposition for is redundant in comparing the two objects of run.

E The preposition for is necessary in the comparison of the costs.

其实此题可以秒杀，前后比较的是costs, 所以前后主语都应该是cotst,主语要平行嘛，直接可以排除ACDE了，这也是在另类地考平行，果然深层次地学好平行很重要。

13楼分析的在理，但是有个小问题：
“如果从语义来看，我们会发现，这道题想要比较的是cost本身。”由此判断ACD错误逻辑上说不过去，因为后半句才是比较的cost本声，前半句比较运营成本to run也没什么问题的，并不矛盾。

可不可以这样做题：
本题比较cost，while/even though/ whereas/but都是表转折，需要平行，因此主语都应该是cost去掉de;abc中ac用强调the fixed costs,没有必要，去掉ac，选择b

B与D都用了for, 可OG只说D中的 for is redundant in comparing the two objects of "run"，那么我们来对比一下BD

因为B中比较了the cost of running nuclear plants 与( ) other types of power plants. 可以用that of running也可以替换成for.

而D中是It costs about the same 什么成本相同呢？ to run nuclear plants 和 other types of power plants，可以看出来是比较两个动作，to run X and (to run) Y, X和Y在这里作宾语，直接跟run, 所以用for是多余的。

而B中，我们如果把for 删去，就是比较了the cost of running nuclear plants与 other types of power plants，是不对称的。因为这是在比较两个名词， the cost of running A 和 the cost of running B相同，所以若想把the cost of running省略，for是必不可少的。即： the cost of running A与 the cost for (running) B

但是还有一点，Barry说 A选项的比较其实是OK的不会产生歧义，但是会不会有这样的歧义？
1. While it costs about the same to run nuclear plants as other types of power plants [cost]...
2. While it costs about the same to run nuclear plants as [to run] other types of power plants...
other types of power plants 是做to run的宾语和 to run nuclear plants 比较还是直接和 to run nuclear plants 。那么就会出现比较的是两种Plants的运营成本，还是核电厂的运营成本和其他电厂的所有成本相比。

这样理解有没有问题？求NN拍砖。

我刚刚也在beatgmat论坛里面看到instructor这么分析了这个问题，但是我觉得不会产生这样的问题。因为很明显的nuclear plants和other types of power plants是平行的，而不是和it平行，所以很明显省略的是to run

这两个That连用是什么情况？根据语义似乎都是修饰costs的定语从句，那为什么中间没有and连接呢？OG也没有提到这个错误。哪个NN指点一下？

OG说D选项有两个错误，另一个是，since it is not clear what stemming from refer to, this is a dangling modifier. 不太明白为什么说stemming from 没有明确的refer，难道不是the electricity they generate 吗？而那个they, 也是明显refer to 第一句中得nuclear plants. 所以就是refer to the electricity the nuclear plants generate.
求解释！

我自己看懂了，自己回答一下，因为stemming from应该refer前面一整句句意才对。而不是refer to the electricity they generate. 可是这句看上去像是refer to后者。所以错。

这是我在GMAT Club上找到的，Instructor sayantanc2k回答的关于选项B中为什么用的For而不是Of的回答。供大家参考。

Instructor: Yes, you have a point. Ideally the construction should have been:

The cost of running A is the same as the cost of running B.
Parallel elements:
Cost of running A
Cost of running B.

However, the construction in option B is not grammatically wrong either:

The cost of running A is the same as (the cost ) for B..(repeated part cost omitted)
Parallel elements:
Cost of running A
Cost for B

In both cases the comparison is between costs. It is not mandatory to maintain parallelism for what follows "cost", i.e. the rest of the two parallel elements.

Let me elaborate a bit more clearly. As long as the comparison is between cost and cost , the sentence is grammatically correct. If the prepositional modifiers of cost are different, then the sentence cannot be said wrong. Nonetheless using similar modifiers is preferred.

cost (of doing) & cost of (thing): NOT illogical.
Cost of eating dinner at XYZ restaurant (say INR 1000) is less than the cost of this bicycle (say INR 5000)..... alright.

总觉得the cost of running n-plants is about the same as (the running costs) for other types ofpower plants没有平行呀?cost of 和 the running cost 不算平行了呀？前面的running 和后面的for 都没有平行对象呀

they 同理既可能指代nuclear plants 也可能指代other types of power plants ?

more expensive for them to generate electricity，强调句就是去掉it is that 依然完整。。。这里面去掉之后，主语是costs，谓语是makes,主谓不一致。66 C D 多了一个for，，原文相比较的是run nuclear plants 比other type power plants 花费更高。。。不要加for。。。。。。。。。。。j E选项的 as other types of power plants少了一个for，不用for的话原句变成cost of running nuclear plants is about the same as other types of power plants，比较对象变成cost of runnng nuclear和 cost of other plants，核工厂的运营成本与其它工厂的成本（可能是收购成本）对比。当用for时，句子变成the cost for other plants，歧义消除
