今年DUKE的中国毕业生， 5个去了MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT，所有人现在都找到了工作，都是大公司，你觉得怎么样呢？

萝卜青菜各有所爱，每一个学校都有自己的长处和短处。排名Program有些道理，否则不会那么多人跑去读Kellogg, Wharton, Duke, 甚至Tuck；地理位置的加分也是事实，看哥大粉丝对其推崇程度就知道——毕竟很少学生或者校友会只提及自己学校的地理优势的。
LZ，找个最适合自己性格和发展需求的吧。

Most of people in US might hear the rape scandal in Duke lacrosse team. 应该不是复旦和南大的比较吧？除了地处上海，复旦的学术水平、师资力量和学生素质在国内也是首屈一指的。

其次，我们比较的是MBA Program, 复旦MBA可是中国顶级之一啊
问了几个美国的朋友都说DUKE是个非常好的学校，说起来美国人都有肃然起敬的感觉。据说和南京大学在中国的感觉差不多。
南京和杜克应该没什么可比性，杜克属于新贵，由于资金充裕，所以攀升很快，南京毕竟是老校，其积淀也比较深厚。但评价的是商学院，而不是大学本身，否则，yale怎么会排在十几名？
杜克和纽约的差异明显，强项不同，没这么难选吧，想必还是楼主对某些问题患得患失的心理严重，其实，学校最主要是给你一个平台，不同的学校平台自然也不同，你要做health care，杜克强啊，要做金融或者财务，纽约的平台要好得多。教学上的优劣，在这一档次的学校里，没明显的差距。

Duke is more a well balanced school. NYU is pretty much a finance school. I dont know about the job placement rate for international students. What is your goal upon gradaution anyway?
But if you love city life, there arent really any other cities that can beat new york in the states. Living costs much more in new york as well, just so you know.

呵呵，其实中国的排名没什么意义，根据的是论文数量和国家重点学科的数量，院士数量等等啦

Vealla, I suspect you will finally choose Duke, as you have known so much of the school through your current student contacts even before the admission came. In some sense, you were already emotionally committed to Duke.
This is in fact similar to my decision making to choose Stern over the other offers I got. I was also emotionally committed before I was admitted. I visited the school, met the current students and sat in the class. I know the intern/ job placement of the Chinese students. My colleagues in New York and high caliber schoolmate went to Stern... I have known so much of the school and I know it's truly great. I will regret if I don't choose Stern.
So ask yourself, will you regret if you don't go Duke? If yes, then go Duke.

建议看看businessweek上的statistics比较一下两个学校的不同. Fuqua的selectivity在40%左右，而yield只有45%，Stern的selectivity在27%左右，而yield也是48%，两个学校yield比例都不高（一半以上被录取的都选择不去），而比较selectivity是stern胜出

right, Duke is most famous for its brand name in college and its Blue Devils (college basketball), But I should admit that Duke is still a very strong B-school, in my former analysis, I forgot that Duke is very strong in Marketing.......Anyway, if LZ want to explore the finance world, NYU is a no-brainer choice. In those american's minds, NYU is always a great school, not an Ivy League school, but a part of the proud New Yorkers....

不过, 还是要看专业的. 如果是物理, 化学这样的研究型基础学科, 地理位置是没啥关系的. 但是如果是MBA, 地理位置可是很重要的.
另外, NYU也是一所Great的学校呀. 好像最近有份report, 说美国孩子最想去的本科学校排名, NYU排第一. 另外, NYU的graduate school也都非常好. 比如law school, design, entertainment.
当然, duke也很牛, 他的本科是和Stanford, MIT一个league的 (仅次于Harvard, Yale, Princeton).
好像鬼子的本科前三都一直被HYP把持吧.....没有什么研究, 呵呵

真是奇怪，总有人动不动号称自己在米国呆了多久，然后用自己的见解来教育国内后进们……我在美国没呆10年，所以只知道以下：
1、你可以尝试随便找个美国人问：Which MBA program is better in your mind? Princeton or Dartmouth? 90%的答案会是：Princeton, no brainer.
2、玩排名的那些美国人（BW、WSJ之流）难道都没在美国呆10年？

For the recent 10 years, Fuqua MBA has never been ranked lower than Stern in USNEWS and BW ranking!

拿MBA做3年目标的还真没见过
ranking some time is not important if both schools are good to some extend. You are not living in the school for ever. NYU provides much more opportunities for your future job. and it's financial is very strong (although worse than columbia). Fuqua has very short history. and RTP is the high tech center, not financial center. Finding another job is not as easy as finding a local job.
UT Dallas ranking much lower than UT austin, but when looking for a job in year 1998-2000, most of the graduates even get more offers. think about your final destination!
I personally do not like New York because of the narrow street, crazy cabs, and dirty subways. but if someone want to get more opportunaties and better payments (NN does not need to care), NYC, Chicago and somewhere in CA are definitely the top choices.

You take the MBA in order to find a job in future, not for fun.
