Suppose you had to choose three people -- people alive now or people from a different era -- to travel with you on a cross-country automobile trip. Who would you choose and why? What would you hope to learn from them? (Think carefully about the company you want on those long stretches through Nebraska or Kansas.)

这里所说的选择三个人和你一起旅行, 是否要指名道姓说出三个名人,还是说只要说是哪一类人就可. 对这道题的思路,大家有何好的见解?

我认为楼上说的没错，应该是写具体的人物出来。但要不要具体写每一个人，还是DEPENDS ON 你写的主题和形式了。

I agree with maer. it depends on your style.

when I applied the GIT, there is a similiar essay topic: invite people to dinner. I chose the real people from the history and introduce them a little.

It doesn't matter who you choose, the point is "Why". If you pick an engineer and a doctor, we may guess you're a person who is afraid of challenge and just want an safe life.

Or she is very well-prepared and takes calculated risks when choosing her companion or team members to go on such a long journey?

Joking aside, I think the key to answer this kind of question is "why", why it relates to you. Don't forget the focus of your application should be YOU, not others. If you talk about others, it is because you want to stress something about YOU.
