[求助] TWE 1

I'm gonna do TOEFL on Sep 2nd, not much time left. Please help edit or give comments. Much obliged.

1. Some people think that parents should plan children’s leisure time carefully. Other people believe that children should decide for themselves how to spend their free time, which idea do you agree with? Give reasons for your choice.

In one child’s growing process, parents play a significant role, having the desire of getting the best care for their children. One of the hottest topics debated nowadays is that whether parents should plan children’s leisure time or let children decide for themselves. As far as I am concerned, I insist that parents take the initiative because of the following reasons.

Children lacking self-control and consciousness of danger mainly contribute to my point of view. Having the hardly-contented curiosity, a child may try everything to satisfy it and thus potential danger may have a chance to harm the innocent child. Without the guidance of parents who are fully-grown and mature, children can’t realize or decide what is proper and safe. For instance, a child enjoying sitting in the sun, playing on sands too long doesn’t know the occurrence of getting severe sunburn unless they feel the pain. On the contrary, a parent knows to limit time of staying outdoors or the necessity of covering the body from the sunlight.

On the other hand, under parents’ guidance, children can easily build up particular interests that may not be found by them. Always wanting the best for their children, parents pay extreme attentions on children’s special talents, such as singing, that may not be noticed by children themselves. Providing excellent tutor or giving opportunities to explore the interest, parents help build up children’s personalities and unique abilities through planning their leisure time wisely.

Admittedly, things will develop in the opposite direction when they become extreme. Parents should not give too much expectation or pressure on kids who are experiencing the most relaxing and happiest period in their lives. With the adequate assistance, a child may be benefited profoundly through parents’ correct and wise decisions.

With the discussed reasons above, we can conclude that it is better for children to follow their parents’ guidance to spend their leisure time safely and meaningfully in order to become successful in their future.
