very happy that i got admitted by INSEAD and they have already offered me a scholarship up front. reading this thread makes me very excited about the INSEAD experience and lifestyle. but i do have some more specific questions that i hope you guys can help answer:
1) recruiting: i wonder how to coordinate the best arrangment between recruiting and campus switch. i have chosen to started in fonty, does it mean there would be fewer opportunities in Asian openings? if i have to go to singapore for more Asian openings, which period should I be there?
2) can someone tell me about the job placement of recent Chinese intakes? is it hard to stay in Europe to work?
3) what is INSEAD's reputation in China and Hong Kong?
4) I have met some LBS people and they believe being in London still links up with more advantages. How would you compare LBS and INSEAD's career placement strength?
5) Can anyone comment about INSEAD's career services in Singapore?
6) Why INSEAD has been historically stronger in consulting job placement? Is it the way INSEAD train people? Is it the career service mock interviews? Is it simple because more consulting firms come to INSEAD? or do you think INSEAD attracts more consulting background poeple to start with.

Let me answer your questions one by one. 1) There's no such a best strategy you're looking for. Otherwise, there will not be campus exchange coz people will be flooding into the namely advantegeous campus. However,I have to remind you winter in Europe can be suffering (cold and rainy). 2) It depends on what you are looking for. If you need a banking job in Europe, yes, it's hard. For industries, it's relatively easier. 3) Not that strong vs. Magic 7 I guess but defintely growing stronger. If you need a career in Asia, I'm sure INSEAD's brand name will be very helpful. 4) I've never been to LBS and cannot comment on their location strength. But in terms of on-campus-recruitment companies, i dont think there's any difference. Basically, all the top banks, consulting firms and industry corporates will visit INSEAD and LBS during recruitment season. Missing either one of the two schools is stupid. 5) Career service in SGP seems fine. Maybe nnm have some comments to make here. 6) INSEAD attracts consulting firms because it's wellknown for GM and strategy. However, INSEAD has been trying to build up its expertise in finance too and i've seen big progress here. But i have to remind you it's by no means true that you can just wait for offers from consulting firms to come without serious preparation. Competition is still very strong among students and out of INSEAD. For the last promotion, we have four people in McK (Greater China). Again, choose the school that you really have a passion with (not only the ranking). Hope it helps! |
