It is a controversial issue that people can achieve real and lasting success or 'get rich' in business by conforming to conventional practices or by innovative ways of thinking. People with different backgrounds and experiences hold various opinions. Some people contend that people cannot achieve a great success if he keeps the traditional practices. However, other people assert that people should conform to those conventional practices so as to secure the gradual success. As far as I am concerned, the conclusion should be analyzed case by case.
First, there is no need for people to conform to the conventional ways of thinking in the businesses which require innovation and imagination. A typical example is in the business of advertising. The industry of advertising requires the people to break the traditional ways of thinking so that more ideas can pop up. Without imagination, all the advertisements will illustrate the same story, show the same picture and reach the same conclusion. There will be no attractions of the products.
Second, for some other businesses, it is highly required to conform to the conventional pactices, . For instance, if an accounting firm does not comply with the accounting regulations and help the client to conceal the fraud, the accounting firm will be sued. If a law firm does not conform to the regulations, there will be no standard to judge a crime and therefore will result in the turbulence in the society. If the doctors give up all the medical theories and make an innovation to prescribe some new medicines for patients, the lives of the patient will be greatly threatened.
Admittedly, we should consider a problem from two sides. An advertising company should also have some regulation limits and the professional company could sometime be flexible to deal with some cases only if it is within the range of the regulations.
To sum, it is imprudent and reckless to conclude that people can achieve great success either by innovation or by conformation to the conventional practices. Each coin has two sides. We should analyze the cases from both the positive aspects and negative aspects so as to make a reasonable judgment.
