123. “Schools should not teach specialized information and techniques, which might soon become outdated. Instead, schools should encourage a more general approach to learning.” 1As far as I am concerned, the importance of the approach to learning can outweigh that of specialized information and techniques. Just as the author has asserted, specialized knowledge and techniques can soon become outdated and be of no use, while the approach to learning can benefit us for a life long time. 2However, I can not agree with author's suggestion to stop teaching specialized information and techniques. Our society is developing at a tremendous speed nowadays. No one will wait you to acquire a certain knowledge or technique from the workplace step by step. The competent people that are most valued by our society are those who have already had a certain kind of knowledge or technique, while adapt to the new circumstances and innovation at the same time. 3Moreover, no one can learn anything without practice. In this case, no one can learn how to get access to new knowledge and techniques without the study of specialized information and techniques. |
