A number of charges have been raised against me, some serious, some trivial. Individuals seeking to control the corporation for their own purposes have demanded my resignation. Remember that no court of law in any state has found me guilty of any criminal offense whatsoever. In the American tradition, as you know, an individual is considered innocent until proven guilty. Furthermore, as the corporation’s unbroken six-year record of growth will show, my conduct of my official duties as chairman has only helped enhance the success of the corporation, and so benefited every stockholder.

我选C,答案是D,非常明显嘛...他没有判过罪而且按照美国传统,没判罪前都是纯洁的.
但是这里的纯洁的定义..我不知道有没有问题哟

选项D,The corporation has expanded steadily over the past six years.
是原文中“the corporation’s unbroken six-year record of growth”的另一种说法。
而且"an excerpt from a letter that was sent by the chairman of a corporation to the stockholders." 的core 并不是要证明 chairman 无罪，而是要表明他的业绩，最终使对手
提出的弹劾无效。

不过选项c很可能被误选。做题的时候要小心，对待这种二选一的情况一定要谨慎。

但是还有一点点不明白"steadily"从何而来...

kid MM有点钻牛角了，
这题按中国人的思路应该是很好理解c为什么错的
例如，我们判断一个人的肤色不一定是要脱光了她的衣服才知道的，那只是她本身的一种属性
同理，贪污没有并不一定是要等查出来才知道，只要曾经贪过，那我们说他是贪鬼就没有问题，不能说没有查出来，她就不贪了，这个逻辑可是错误的
c的"steadily是有些问题，但是unbroken six-year record of growth 就至少是说明它的经营情况是稳定增长的嘛
你理解了就行，别想太多了，呵呵，当心晚上睡不着哦

查了字典，发现unbroken有“继续”的意思。。
原来错怪题目了。。。

不同意.按照题目的逻辑, 没查出来就 innocent. 怎么能用常理判断呢??

我觉得C是因为文中没有说court的意见啊，而C infer的是court的意见……

通过以上两者我觉得可以推出着这个结论：The chairman is innocent of any criminal offese。

I think the point is if the C changes to The chairman believes that he is innocent of any criminal offese, it will be right though to easy for text. But we cannot draw to the words above to that conclusion, since this though has flaws.
