80. Advertisement: Clark brand-name parts are made for cars manufactured in this country. They satisfy all of our government automotive tests-the toughest such tests in the world. With foreign-made parts, you never know which might be reliable and which are cheap look-alikes that are poorly constructed and liable to cost you hundreds of dollars in repairs. Therefore, be smart and insist on brand-name parts by Clark for your car.
The argument requires the assumption that
(A) Clark parts are available only in this country
(B) foreign-made arts are not suitable for cars manufactured in this country
(C) no foreign-made parts satisfy our government standards
(D) parts that satisfy or government standards are not as poorly constructed as cheap foreign made parts
(E) if parts are made for cars manufactured in our country, they are not poorly constructed

why not E?
In my mind: clark brand-name parts (1) are made within country and (2) passed the test so that they are better than foreign parts ( poorly constructed and cheap).

so D focuses on the (1) and E focuses on (2). Why choose D rather than E? ??

我觉得楼主对题目的理解好象有点问题：
Clark brand-name parts are made for cars manufactured in this country.

这边的manufactured in this country. 应该是修饰cars的，并非Clark brand-name parts
即使是国外的parts也能够for cars manufactured in this country！

如果是这么理解的话，其实E是与原文相矛盾的，因为E中的parts也包括国外的产品，而文中已经阐明的是国外的水货比较烂拉！

个人意见，仅供参考！

请教一下楼主：
我开始做的时候是选C，觉得 C取非了，是weaken原文的！
楼主是如何排除C呢？

Neg C (I would say it will be "not all foreign-made parts fail our government standards"), the original argument still holds. It is inferred that some foreign parts are reliable and some are not. That is how using foreign parts causes problem.

C本来就是全否定吧！
如果是部分否定的话，再取非后也仍然是部分否定呀！

我倒是觉得C有绝对化的嫌疑......
文中只是说：
might be reliable
可能是好的，也可能是坏的！
而文中的一个hidden assumption就是通过了test就有保障！
既然作者都承认外国的水货也有好坏之分，
那么C就是全盘否认了国外的水货中也有好东东这种可能！
所以C应该踹掉！

你觉得呢？

我同意mindfree. C的表达方式太绝对。文中"you never know which will be reliable and will be cheap.." 不能推出no foreign part....只能说 not all foreign parts don't pass the test.

另外，我也发现自己看错题了。
