他答案是E，可是我觉得E的意思是，只要一睡下去，压抑症就会全面发生。
而原文的意思是，大多数病人如果一宿不睡，会立刻发作压抑症“a large majority of the patients reported that missing a night’s sleep immediately lifted their depression”。这样不是意思和原文正好相反了么？

这是一种两种方案对比的提醒：要支持其中一种。通常有两种思路，直接支持其中一种或反对另一种。
本题为sleep-deprivation与conventional treatments进行对比，要求反对sleep-deprivation。使用方法可以为1。conventional treatments虽有副作用，但疗效根好
2。本题答案e所用的方法，先让步，可以用，再转折：没有效果Depression returns in full force
3。采用归谬法：采用sleep-deprivation后，残生更坏的结果，如：神经崩溃了。

给俺理清了解题的思路

可这一题我不理解的在于：Depression returns in full force as soon as the patient sleeps for even a few minutes.这个选项的意思如果是：“病人只要一睡下去就会发病”的话，不是和原文的意思相左了么？因为原文是：“病人睡不好就发病”，也就是说如果用这个剥夺睡眠法来治疗depression的话，根本就不可能治好。
不好意思，可能是我钻牛角尖了
但还是希望高手能拉我一把

lifted their depression 是“减轻抑郁”的意思。

我知道你的问题所在了，你是对lift这个词的意思没有理解。你的问题处在对此句的翻译出现失误：
missing a night’s sleep immediately lifted their depression.
你的翻译是：病人睡不好就发病（你将lifted理解为提高了病人的压抑）

而实际上lifted在此的含义是go away.即消除了压抑
原句应该这样翻译：
如果一晚不睡将立即消除他们的压抑感。
所以下一句，开头用了一个Yet 来表示转折。。。。。。

真是奇怪, Longman的解释这里lift做不及物呀

Jan's depression seemed to be lifting at last.

"missing a night’s sleep immediately lifted their depression."这里用作及物.不知道ETS用的是什么的词典.

个人认为：

你们对lift的解释不对吧？

一晚上失眠反而抑制了忧郁？不符合常理呀。

我认为就是提高了的意思（lift在这里表达的意思）。

再看逻辑：说是sleep-deprivation这个药不用来治病，即使conventional treatments有很严重的副作用。

答案要求解释为什么。

而E正好解释了，如果你吃了这个sleep-deprivation，即使睡一会后也会使忧郁增加，所以不能吃。

其他选项好像比较的对象文中都没有出现，所以容易排除。

I think here the "sleep-deprivation "是指安眠药. 这样就好理解了。
