[求助]语法补充题250题 20

20.Never before in the history of music have musical superstars been able to command so extraordinary fees of the kind they do today.
(A) so extraordinary fees of the kind they do today
(B) so extraordinary fees as they are today
(C) such extraordinary fees as they do today
(D) such extraordinary fees of the kind today’s have
(E) so extraordinary a fee of the kind they can today

答案C
我选的B,我的理由前面有否定NEVER可以用so many...as...,而且are 和原文的be able to对应。不选C是因为such as是表列举的

'so' is used to describe adjectives. But here 'extraordinary fees' is a noun phrase which is required 'such' not 'so'. Moreover, in this question, 'as' is a conjunction not a preposition.

That is right. But why answer C use "do" to replace "be able to" in the comparison?

because the last part of the sentence can be replaced by 'They command extraordinary fees today.'    'do' replaces ' command' not' be able to'   ‘be able to' just describe the ability of superstars in the past. But today, they do charge as greedily as possible. (Kidding)

谢谢CQGMAT,我明白了,翻译成中文好理解。“原来不能像现在这么样收很多钱”,不是将原来和现在的“能不能”作比较。

extraordinary fees 中的extraordinary难道不是形容词吗?为什么不用so extraordinary fees呢?

so + adj + a/the + noun +as/that

the noun is countable and singluar.

such +adj noun + as/that;

the noun is uncountable or plural.

such +adj noun + as/that;

the noun is uncountable or plural.

so +adj. a noun和such + a adj noun的表达方法都是可以的,

比如such a clever boy和 so clever a boy,并没有说such一定要跟不可数名词或复数

这里如果把名词单数变成复数,就变成了so +adj nouns和such + adj nouns

我想这里的考点主要还在于动作的比较对象,就如前面所说的,“他们能收的比现在收的少”,所以用be able to 和charge比较。

請問這裡為什麼要用have been(現在完成式)呢?

Never是為了強調嗎? before的作用是什麼

整句的意思是?

会不会是因为B项有歧义啊? so extraordinary fees as they are today 可表示 musical superstars are able to ...也可表示 the fees are so extraordinary today ,所有表意不够明确啊?
