我不太理解B和 E的区别

ETS 对 E的解释: Choice E suggests that the construction of the buildings, rather than the earthquake, occurred last year, thus making the sequence of events unclear.

是因为时间状语的位置不同，所表达的意思也不同吗？

因为E中的that从句是修饰buildings的，last year是句子的时间状语。如果把building的定语（tha……earthquake))去掉,句主干变成了Last year some of the buildings had been……，这不正是OG里头对E的解释吗？！而且E中有另一个错误经过这样的处理后也变得很明显了，那就是动词had been的过去完成式与last year联用，那一定是错的。

不太明白，能否解释一下？

关键是后面that指的是什么,导致不同.E违反句意

1.粗略看来，时间上

（B）destory or damage 后，construct 前

（E）destory or damage 前，construct 后

(B)last year 发生：were destroyed or heavily damaged in the earthquake;时态上恰当（ last year~一般过去时）

(E)last year 发生：had been;时态使用不当

看来last year 的位置不同也会引起句子意思不同，好像OG里不止一道这样的题目。
