我的问题是 Why not "the larger one", the "one" 被省略的理由是什么。E选项的意思不太明白，大小是什么关系呢？

请指教

这里的 the more recently discovered is the larger是个平行结构，如果要加上one, 就应该说 the more recently discovered one is the larger one, 这样太罗嗦了，不如都省略one.

句子的意思是，在这两个孪生超新星中，比较近发现的是大的那颗，但是，是小的那颗改变了太空学家对宇宙起源的看法。

the first "one" is 省略, since there is "one" behind

同问，感觉前面省略了one,而the smaller 后面又加了one很不协调
