My question is : if "Bluegrass musician Bill Monroe" is the SUBJECT of the main clause, and "inspired" is VERB, why use "also" before the VERB "inspired"?

Can we say "Bluegrass musician Bill Monroe ALSO inspired many musicians, including Elvis Presley and Jerry Garcia, whose music differed significantly from his own" if we just keep the main clause?

可以，就一个完整的句子而言。毕竟also是副词，不是从属连词，不会造成没有主句。

同意 ALSO只是副词的说法

-------虽然在有些字典上查到,also是有连词的词性,但是,在GMAT里,我发现它不认可aslo当连词.

很多选项都是aslo在冒充连词,最后被判断为错----所以,aslo作连词,GMAT认为错.

这题,是翻过来考,ALSO前面加一个逗号,让你错以为它又在冒充连词,如果不小心,很可能就判B错,但是仔细看,这里ALSO前面虽然有逗号,但是逗号隔开的是从句,有点类似插入语的意思,所以这里ALSO不是连词,而是副词,让你误以为ALSO又在冒充连词!

阴险啊!

至于楼主的疑惑,为啥ALSO在这里突兀的出现,好像之前没有甚么别的比较啊.我认为2F已经解释很到位了,毕竟没有大错.另外我觉得可以这样理解,整句话可能是某个文章的节选,可能在原文里面,有ALSO所比较的动作.这样,就比较容易为啥突然有个Also在这里了.
