老师上课讲过，大致意思如下：

在metalwork中，面粘的方法比点焊的方法有一个优势在于，接触的地方是一个大面积，而不是彼此无关的点

and hence the bonding作插入语

我觉得hence的作用有点像therefore，表thecontact-->the bonding这两者是一样的，所以是伴随之意，主词仍应是contact。

可以简单理解为：

the contact, 也就是说bonding,是.....

谢谢以上三位的解释，我的理解更深了一步。不过 therefore 和 hence 是副词，其后不可以接名词。不过想想，是不是省略了一些部分，不管如何，意思才是最重要的。

关于hence，牛津上有个例句：I fell off my bike yesterday-hence the bruises.我昨天骑自行车摔倒了－所以青一块、紫一块的。（hence，adv，因此）。这里hence做什么成分，为什么引导名词？

还是这个问题： Hence 是副词，怎么可以修饰名词呢？如果是插入语的话，为什么前面还有一个AND？
