今天郁闷大了，第10套做得一塌糊涂。问一下这题，查了讨论贴，还是不大明白。我选D答案是B

In 1914 a total of 469,000 cars and trucks were produced in the United States, but in 1929 almost twice the numbers of tucks alone came off the assembly lines.

A. the numbers of tucks alone

B. that number of trucks alone

C. the number of trucks by themselves

D. as many trucks themselves

E. as many trucks by themselves

后面动词明明是came off，如果主语是that number，说不通吧？

我也觉得选D , twice the number 做主语几乎不可能。

trucks themselves, trucks by themselves,在逻辑上说不通，C, D, E可以马上排除。

numbers:

[longman]

how many people there are, especially people attending an event or doing an activity together
Can you give me some idea of numbers?

而这里比较的是469，000这个数字,而不是有多少(人),所以A错。

答案只有B

umm...來看個example會簡單一點:
X number of men will come from Mars, and Y number of women will come from Venus.

"X number of"本身只是一個數字.

同理, "twice the numbers of"="469,000*2"
