C，that和but that平行，to determine比for determine要符合惯用法，whether比whether or not简洁，than后面的成分省略不会歧义。

我做的时候，一直在考虑两个问题：

一个是，既然是agreed，那应该用was还是is，
＂ balloon angioplasty preceded by ultrasound is any better for heart attack patients than....＂，可以看成一个普遍的规律如此之类的东东？

还有就是than 后的is需要补出来吗，前面有is和for，不会造成歧义吗？

我觉得这个是要决定而尚未决定的，to determine有这个含义，所以可以用is.我不认为这是一个类似于普遍规律之类的东东。

than后面的is,可以不用补出来。因为很明显是与balloon比较而非与for后面的成分比较，再说by itself也可以加强了这种意义，不会歧义。

我觉得我说的决定和你说的确定不是一码事。可能是我没说清楚，题目的意思是：需要更多的研究工作来决定哪个更好。而这个决定后面的内容是尚未发生的，所以用一般现在时。另外，我觉得这里不存在假设，和你举的例子是不同的。

只要没有歧义，就不用补出。简洁，精确都是GMAT的考点。
