同意，因为谓语是are。但一般在这种情况下是否用 it's number is five....更好呢，如果有这个选项的话。

但实际情况是一般情况下表示某某的数量应该用the number of sth, 而非the numbers of sth.

后者显然逻辑错误，og中好几题专门考the number 和the numbers 的区别。所以实际做题都会把its numbers are five times的选项排除掉。

不然的，有时候如果题目中没有划线处给出numbers，大不了看一下主谓是否一致，如果在答案中，那么看是否所有的选项都带有numbers，如果有些没有加s的，一般都是有可能正确的；如果都是 numbers，管它作甚！

我在想，可不可以把numbers当作“群”讲，即“gyrfalcon”的鸟群现在是以前的5倍；这样its numbers和greater than看起来都比较合理。

另，原题如下：

The gyrfalcon, an Arctic bird of prey, has survived a close brush with extinction; its numbers are now five times greater than when the use of DDT was sharply restricted in the early 1970's.

number有“一群”的意思。例如：There are a large number of people there. (那里有很多人。)Birds gather in large numbers beside the river. (鸟儿一群群地聚在河边。)

那么在这句话里，是不是也可以把number理解为“群”呢？
