请教OG第46题，

46. A study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture showed that if calves exercise and associated with other calves, they will require less medication and gain weight quicker than do those raised in confinement.

小妹对正确答案E有一点疑义：此并列句中than后面的部分为何可以将动词省去，个人认为此处对比点是放在动词上的而不是名词。。。

请各位帮忙指点一下，先谢了。。

同问。比较中助动词的补出有原则么?？
比如这样理解可不可以：同等情况下正确的补出比不补要好？（这道题因为其它选项错的离谱所以就不用考虑了...）

请语法高人指点。

解题应该是从画线的动词入手，首先排除a/b;而后排除c/d最后得到E.从正规的语法角度上说应该要补出do,但是gmat的语法是选择最好的的，其他的四个答案都有绝对的错误，E的说法是不正规的，但是从逻辑意思上是没有任何歧义的，所以没有问题。

"if x do.., y will do..." IF 从句在时态上的搭配，难道不是这样的吗？E的时态的根据是什么呢？

有一种语法解释是，如果than前面有两个动词，后面就不补出do

我记得开普兰解释这种现象是说对於主语的对比助动词是可以省略的，它给的例句也和此题相似：HE GETS WEIGHT MORE QUICKLY THAN TOM。

IF引导的条件句，主句助动词省略，即主句用动词原型。好像刘振明上面有解释。

另外一种解法：

由a study马上判断：a,c,d的时态不对，再根据that从句种的主从时态，排除b

判断之后如果不放心，再验证一下其他部分。
